Dynamics 365 Contact Segment Export from Customer Insights to Dynamics 365 Sales

Post Author: Yuji Mikami |

We would like to discuss the Customer Insights export feature, focusing in this blog on Audience Insights with Individual Consumers.

We demonstrated in a previous blog how to integrate Dynamics 365 Contact and Opportunity records to Customer Insights and viewed them in a profile page. We are going to demonstrate how to export the Dynamics 365 contacts in Customer Insights to Dynamics 365 Sales app. The steps are as follows:

  • Creating a contact segment with won opportunities in Customer Insights
  • Exporting segment to Dynamics 365 Sales

Creating a contact segment with won opportunities in Customer Insights

Records are exported from Customer Insights as a segment. A segment is a list of customers queried with a given condition. The customer could be a contact in a consumer scenario or a business entity in commercial scenario. In this case we will create a list of contacts with won opportunities using a consumer scenario.

We click on Segments in the left navigation and click + New button. We give it a name as “Customers with Won Opportunity” and select a field that filters the opportunity records with status, “Won” [Dataverse.statecode = 1]. We click on Run button and create a segment.

Let’s click on Exports in Data in the left navigation. We click on + Add export and create a connection and then export the segment created in the previous step. The wizard walks us through completing the process. First, we select “Dynamics 365 Sales (Marketing Lists)” as destination of the export.

In other examples, we can export a segment such as High Lifetime Value Customers from Customer Insights to Dynamics 365 Marketing app. The segment could be used for Customer Journeys in Outbound and Realtime marketing. We can also export any segments from Customer Insights to Azure Data Lake and Azure Synapse Analytics and even create a Power BI report with the segment as datasets. We can further export to Facebook Ads Manager and other external applications for marketing activities.

Happy Customer Insights’ing!
