Problem solving is in the DNA of a CRM superhero. So, when a client recently asked me us about removing system views in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, we were on it like a flash. The client was finding that views like 'All Opportunities Opened This Week' or 'Accounts: No Orders in the Last 6 Months' were not very useful in the current system.
In CRM 4.0 it was not possible to hide/delete/deactivate a system view. In the past we had used a plugin that would remove a system view from the view drop down menu. This plugin would look to see if the words 'to be removed' were present in the name of the view, and if they were, the view would be removed from the view selector. We figured this was how we would need to do it in CRM 2011…we were wrong…
In Dynamics CRM 2011 we have the ability to deactivate a system view, out of the box! This is a great new feature and is extremely easy to use:
Blahhhhm! Simple as that!
Yes another handy trick from the CRM Superheroes at PowerObjects. Happy CRM'ing!
I Like To Hide A View By Role... How Can I Do This?
Thanks
@Karen Did you get any answer for your question?
I also want to hide view by roles. Please reply if you have any solution.
Thanks
How do you deactivate a Report entity's managed view? For example, the "Service Reports" view. The "deactivate" option is not presented for this Managed view.
Joe, do you know if deactivating views will propagate through promoting solution packages to another environment. That is, deactivating a system view in development, package the solution and import to production, will that view be deactivated or does it need to be done manually for each environment? Thanks.
